Reliable for CDs, year after year

I've been using Raisin for a few years now, mostly for Certificates of Deposit. This last time, I opened another Short-Term CD. Like my previous experiences, it was straightforward. I appreciate the consistency; the interface hasn't changed much, which makes it easy to navigate. Rates are still good, similar to what I've gotten before. The only thing is sometimes it takes a couple of business days for funds to show up, but that's been consistent. It's why I keep coming back for my CD needs; they deliver as expected every time.

Good High-Yield Savings account

I opened a High-Yield Savings account last month. The online process was pretty simple. Deposited funds, and it started earning interest quickly. No issues so far with it.

Easy CD setup, decent rates

I opened a 1-year Fixed-Term CD through Raisin a few weeks ago. The application process was smooth, all done online. It took about three days for my funds to fully clear and the account to activate, which was stated upfront. I had a quick question about linking my external bank account, and their customer support chat was helpful and got back to me in about an hour. The interest rate was competitive, better than my local bank. It's Federally Insured, which gives me peace of mind. Overall, a good experience for setting up a CD.

Are there any fees with Raisin for keeping a savings account? Or is it truly free?

N Nina Ito 1 month ago
AFAIK, no direct fees from Raisin for the savings accounts. The banks they partner with might have their own policies, but Raisin itself doesn't charge you.

Nah, never paid any fees to Raisin directly for my savings account. The banks pay Raisin, not you.

What's the minimum to open an account there? I'm just starting out and don't have a ton to put in.

J June 1 month ago
Depends on the bank and product. Some start pretty low, like $1. Others, especially for CDs, might be a bit higher. You can see the minimum for each offer on their site.

I think for most savings accounts it's like $1, but some of the higher-rate CDs can require a grand or more. Just check the specific offer details.

Hey, I'm looking at Raisin for a new high-yield savings account. Are they actually FDIC insured or is it like some third-party thing?

G Greg 1 month ago
Yeah, totally FDIC insured. Your money is spread across different banks they partner with, and each one is insured.

It's legit. Each bank they use is FDIC insured up to the standard limits. I think it even shows you which banks your money is with.

Is it easy to take money out of Raisin if I need it? Or is it a whole hassle?

T Troy Q. 1 month ago
For savings accounts, it's pretty straightforward, just like a regular bank transfer. CDs are different, obviously, you'd usually lose interest if you pull out early.

I've only withdrawn from a savings account, and it was fine. Took a couple of business days to hit my main bank, as expected.

Anyone know if Raisin is better than Marcus? I'm trying to decide between them for a CD.

K Kevin V. 2 months ago
I've used both. Raisin typically has a wider selection of banks and CD terms, so you might find better rates there sometimes. Marcus is simpler though.

Raisin usually has better rates on CDs from what I've seen. Plus, you can easily manage multiple banks through one platform, which is cool.
